_{THE DAYS OF GRAYS

A slight modification from the colors GTK suite by nale12.
This GTK is suitable for any colour flavoured desktop, while it's neutral indeed.
It is dark but yet very usable [not like many dark GTK you'd find around].
Metacity theme included.

Hi.
Your theme is very nice, I installed it ~2 weeks ago, but I would change some things : i.e. the colors of the highlighted font in Firefox and all my other gtk+ apps, but I dunno how to do.
I change some values in the daysofgrays/gtk-2.0/styles/entry file, but it only works on gmrun (an app launcher). Here are the changes :
base[NORMAL] = "#ffffff"
base[PRELIGHT] = "#bfefff"
base[SELECTED] = "#bfefff"
base[ACTIVE] = "#ffffff"
base[INSENSITIVE] = "#ffffff"
text[NORMAL] = "blue"
text[PRELIGHT] = "#bebebe"
text[SELECTED] = "#000000"
text[ACTIVE] = "#bebebe"
text[INSENSITIVE] = "#ffffff"

All the changes I can do only do sthg in gmrun, but it's the only one which is changed :/

Now my default. VERY nice, I am particularly in love with the progress bars. They are, quite frankly, delicious.

However, is there a way that the buttons could be just plain icons, instead of a buttonised image? Sorry, in no way are my intentions to appear ungrateful!

Hi, I've developed a gtk theme inspired in The days of grays with Aurora and Equinox engines, apart of the pixmap engine, and a slighty modification of the metacity theme of The days of grays. Can I upload it here, and redistribute the metacity theme of The days of grays with my theme?

enabled text shall be white or light gray instead black and disabled text a darker gray for text entries, just like optionmenu... and gtkentry should have same background as the disabled one making the difference between disabled and enabled one, the text color

and... also the panel should be darker with light text color...

I have to say that I tried to modify it to work as I would like but it ended in a completly mess up x'D

anyway... I love it

Are only suggestions that would make it look way better... I tried to modify but I'm not good enough and didn't figure how to change many of what I mention and it became a mess xD

This theme rocks, but I'm having some weird problems. Running Xubuntu 10.04 and I had it working perfectly on my bootable usb drive, but when I did a clean install to my internal disk and attempted to load it, it does not appear in my theme interface. Running compiz and emerald as well, but that didn't seem to affect it before. Tried everything that I could possibly think of and I'm stumped, this sucks since this is an awesome theme. Only thing I did differently on this install is not updating yet, which may prove to solve the problem, I'll post back with results when its done.

I got it working after updating stuff and doing it exactly as I did on my flashdrive, [well after messing up my xubuntu install like 6 more times in a row lol] works great now. [also, I swear that the internet hates IceCat, first my school's site, now DeviantArt, I have to spoof my useragent to firefox windows for it to work]

It seems it was neither. For some reason, certain sites don't like my user agent, removing the (like Firefox) at the end of my string seemed to do the trick. Also one minor thing that could be improved, but I don't think its possible to do. The names of desktop icons are nearly unreadable, and messing around with the theme's settings I found out that the same one that controls icon text, controls the folder path color in my file manager and the one that controls the background of the icon name controls the browsing pane of my file manager, Not a big deal since I usually just pin the things I need as launchers to my panel, But I'm not sure if its possible to change the icon names separate from the other colors. _{Within your home directory.
It is a hidden folder named .themes. To view hidden folders, simply press CTRL+H in nautilus.
If the .themes folders doesn't exist, just create it by yourself and place The Days of Grays folder within it.}

thats where i have been putting it all along,

and it still will not show up, or apply. ugh

now mind you, i always do a fresh install, this time i did an upgrade to ubuntu lucid...(? maybe something with that)

i do not like dark themes, though this one looks like it really rocks, nice, simple, and classy...

if i never get it to work, i just want to compliment you on a job well done...

same thing with a fresh instaltion on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 with gnome 2.30.0

the "color's" theme also will not work,

it shows in use/share/themes,

though not on appearance preference...
